SDCC Members Update July 14th 2020

Members Communication

July 2020

Curborough is open !!!   As from 1st July 2020 Curborough was re-opened for small events including competition car test days, club members track afternoons and private hires. To comply with Government and Motorsport UK COVID-19 rules and regulations various signs, floor markings and access routes to the toilets together with numerous sanitisers have all been installed. Current guidelines from MS UK mean that no spectators are allowed entry to the venue and ‘social distancing’ rules are being enforced - so it’s a ‘new’ Curborough but at least it’s now open.

As members will appreciate the original calendar of events has substantially altered so please check the web site for more up to date information although as indicated no events are currently allowed spectators. The first Sprint will be an ACU motorbike affair in mid July with the MGCC/SDCC MSUK Sprint on 02/08/20 being the first in that context in which both clubs will be on a learning curve regarding the new rules. The SDCC Sprint on 06/09/20 is going ahead but has been changed to a non-championship double lapper..

However all of this is of course subject to change at a moment’s notice -  so watch the web site for updates and in the meantime (using a currently well used phrase)  stay safe.

MSUK Permit Sprint Meetings.

Sunday 2nd August 2020  MG Car Club  +  SDCC

SDCC entries for the above are oversubscribed.

Sunday 6th September  SDCC Sprint

We are pleased to confirm that the SDCC September sprint is going ahead as a Motorsport UK Sprint. It will be a non-championship, double lap event, running the usual classes and with entry numbers restricted as per a double lap event.

The Supplementary Regulations and online entry facility will be available on the web site (if not already by the time you read this).  Considering the reactions to all other events now arranged at Curborough early entry is advised to avoid disappointment if it fills up quickly. Entries already received for the original Sprint need to confirm to Cathie Gwilliam (Entries Secretary) that they agree to the new format.

The event will be run in line with Motorsport UK COVID-19 restrictions this means there will be changes to the usual signing on and scrutineering processes as well as the publication of timing and results. Please read the information provided to entrants beforehand.

If the current Government COVID–19 restrictions are still in place this event will not be open to spectators. Should the situation change before the date of the event the SDCC committee will of course review this decision.
