To All Shenstone & D.C.C. Members
Members will be aware of previous communications regarding the Club and Curborough in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic disruptions and I am now able to provide a further update.
The SDCC Management Committee have been reviewing the current situation with regard to government rules and guidelines and MotorSport UK’s (MSUK) latest requirements for operating any type of motorsport with reference to the following two events at Curborough.
Members Club Track Afternoon Saturday 4th July 2020
SDCC Championship Sprint Sunday 5th July 2020
As a result, it is with regret that the Club will be cancelling both of these events.
Although there is a possibility that motorsport may commence in some form in early July, the regulations and guidelines which now apply to all aspects of the Club Track afternoons and MSUK Sprints are substantial and require further consideration for implementation. The new practices that the Club will have to adopt in the immediate future are going to affect the enjoyment of the benefits of being a Curborough member for both competitors and spectators, since in the short term spectators are unlikely to be permitted at any events. We need to create an environment that is safe for all concerned whilst also providing an experience that can be enjoyed by those taking part and it is going to take time to ‘work this through’.
Curborough Sprint Championship 2020
Those of you who have entered the Curborough Sprint Championship for 2020 will be receiving (if not already received) a separate communication indicating that the championship has been cancelled for 2020 and all entry fees are being carried forward to 2021 or refunded in full. The rounds cancelled to date and the remaining scheduled rounds of the championship that are currently at risk of cancellation due to Covid19, determine the withdrawal of the permit which Motorsport UK have approved.
We are aware that our members are keen to come and participate in club events so we are planning to start reopening Curborough for limited usage sometime in July that will be in line with Government rules and guidelines. This will allow us to put the appropriate systems in place while providing a safe environment for all.
We will keep members updated via appropriate channels including the Club’s web site https://www.curborough.co.uk and Social Media when further information becomes available. Stay safe and healthy.
