2010 SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4
The Owen Motoring Club's Graham Hill Trophy Sprint, attracted a decent entry of 67, and good weather – up 'til the last few runs! Unfortunately some class amalgamations meant a bit of a headache with the Championship scores but hopefully I've got them right!
Sa produced another win for Leslie Wilson in the Daihatsu Gtti, from Mandy Smith's Metro Gti.
A well supported Sb saw a close scrap, with Matt Browne taking the honours in his Clio Sport, from Bob Smith, with Paul Glendenning less than 0.2 sec behind. Fourth went to Chris Gillie, with Wayne Park and Dave Elton 5 th and 6 th , all within 0.4 sec!
Warwick Bourton won the 3c BMW battle by 0.1 from brother Richard, with David Paisley only 0.2 sec back in 3 rd !
In 1A Graham Harvey lowered Dave West's record with a great time of 37.33 and comfortably took the class win!
David Marshall won 1B, with a 36.82 run in his 1.9 205 GTI, with Jarard Shepley second in his 1.6 version.
2B saw Simon Thornley take the class win, from Jan Snape. Simon also took Driver of the Day Award for the meeting, and FTD for a Nat B licence holder, in the flying Westfield K series.
Roger Slater was pleased to get the upper hand with his Striker over David Large's GTM for the first time in 4A.
The single seater classes were all decided on the first runs as the heaven opened just before their second runs started!
Closest run was the Formula Ford class, with Peter Gillett taking the win from Rod Law by 0.6 sec. Rod took the best prepared car award for his Titan, and choosing to keep it that way, put the car in the trailer as it started to rain!
Steve Male again took the honours in the Scimitar in the period defined class to finish the day.
With entries low generally in Sprints and Hillclimbs this season probably due to the economic climate, it is still important to get entries in early as some events might get cancelled if they are low on entries at closing date. The next Championship round is the Sheffield & Hallamshire event, on 27 th July, so hope to see most of you there, and hopefully the summer will come back!
